Professor Hulk's Tacos

Updated: Dec 11, 2019

This week we reach our Hulk inspired recipe. Before I even begin, an honest warning is needed: This week's Hulked out recipe is more so related to Avengers: Endgame then The Incredible Hulk, I am completely loyal to Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, so I've decided to embrace it and take inspiration from the later appearing "Professor Hulk."

That being said, let's dive into the film recap. In the Incredible Hulk, we meet Bruce Banner, a brilliant scientist who has a monster living inside of him thanks to an experiment that caused gamma radiation to alter his cells. Banner cuts ties with the love of his life, in order to keep her and himself safe from the Hulk. Bruce is forced to flee to protect himself from the military who are actively trying to weaponize him. While away Bruce is combatting his inner demon, and mastering the art of controlling himself and the not so little rage monster that is a part of him. While Bruce is gaining control and searching for a cure, he is once again found and taken into custody. Just when things couldn't be worse, Bruce's blood is taken and injected into special forces team member Emil Blonsky who covets the Hulk's powers. Bruce must fight Blonsky whose rage beast is named Abomination, before he destroys Harlem.

Now like I said earlier I am just not a fan of Edward Norton's Hulk, and to be perfectly truthful I admit The Incredible Hulk may be one of my least favorite films...ever. It just never captured me like the rest of the MCU has. But, luckily for me a new Hulk emerged and has been an iconic member of "Team Marvel" since 2012's The Avengers. So, in honor of the ~superior~ Hulk, lets get started on Hulk's Tacos!

Hulk's Tacos

Ingredients

1 pack of hard spinach taco shells

1 rotisserie chicken

1 packet of taco seasoning

2 Cups of shredded purple cabbage

1 jalapeño

1 Avocado

Fresh cilantro

Olive oil (to grease pan)

Hulk's Purple Salsa ingredients

2 cups of purple tomatillos (about 10), husked

1 large garlic clove, peeled and minced

1 tbsp of minced red onion

1-2 slices of Serrano Peppers, to taste

1/16 cup of roughly chopped cilantro (leaves only)

1 lemon, for juice

Himalayan salt, to taste

Tortilla chips

Taco Instructions

1. Carve off all white meat from the rotisserie chicken. Then use your hands to shred all the meat taken off of the rotisserie chicken.

2. Use olive oil to grease a large frying pan and put on a medium heat. Add your chicken and taco seasoning and mix the chicken until the taco mix looks evenly spread on all the chicken.

3. While the chicken is cooking, chop the jalapeño and cilantro. When chopping the jalapeño make sure you first cut it in half and remove the seeds from the center. I personally love spicy food so I prefer to keep a small portion of the seeds with the Jalapeño when I chop them. Keep in mind the more seeds left, the spicer it will be. To tame the heat remove all seeds. Once both the Jalapeño and cilantro are chopped put them off to the side mixed together a small bowl until serving time.

4. Pit your avocado, and thinly slice the rest. Leaving to the side as garnish.

Hulk's Purple Salsa Instructions

1. Husk all of your purple tomatillos, if you are unsure how to husk a tomatillo check out this website.

2. Once your tomatillos are husked, chop them. Also, proceed to mince your red onion and garlic clove. Chop your cilantro and slice off the amount of Serrano pepper you desire. I suggest starting small, you can always add more, but you can't take away when it comes to the pepper's heat.

3. Put all ingredients in a high speed blender or food processor, and blend until you have a salsa that is as chunky or smooth as you prefer. When your salsa looks about halfway done blending squeeze out 1 lemon worth of juice into the mix. A note on blending: I would suggest setting your blender or food processor to pulse, the ingredients we're using are delicate to begin with and have already been precut. By using the pulse setting you are in control of exactly how long you want to blend. Each interval should last no longer than a few seconds. Be careful not to over blend as the salsa can become too liquid

And, just in case you are a guacamole fanatic, like myself, here is a great quick video for an awesome guacamole recipe:

Now, you can put it all together. Finish off your Hulk tacos by topping them with the jalapeño & cilantro blend, chopped purple cabbage, and avocado. And, while the salsa is phenomenal with tortilla chips, especially Whole Food's house made chips (flour or corn), it tastes even better on top of these tacos.

Now, all that is left is enjoying your hard work! Lucky for you, no Quinjets will be getting in your way of enjoying this delicious meal. Thanks for checking out this weeks blog, don't forget to come back next week when The God of Thunder will be making an appearance!

Until then, stay green!
