"I'm Bringing the Party to You" Avengers Inspired Drinks for the Holidays

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

On this week's post I'm excited to be bringing six fun drink recipes inspired by the original six Avengers. This week we will be covering drinks inspired by Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hawkeye, and the Hulk. These drinks are a super fun way to celebrate with fans of the MCU or otherwise. Let's just get into it!

The Iron Man:

For the Iron Man drink we have a Blueberry Bellini. Now you may be wondering, "Kathryn what the heck does a Blueberry Bellini have to do with Iron Man?" Well, the original inspiration behind this drink comes from two things. First, Robert Downey Jr. loved to hide food around the set while filming, and one of his favorite work-time snacks was blueberries. In fact, if you keep a close eye out you can find Tony munching on blueberries in the movies. Second, if there is one drink that Tony Stark loves (besides his scotch) is champagne. Whether from a glass or straight from the bottle Tony likes champagne, in and out of his Iron Man suit.

Tony Stark's Blueberry Bellini

Ingredients

1 bottle of Proseco

1/2 cup of water

1/2 cup of sugar

1/2 cup of Fresh Blueberries

1/2 cup of diced pineapple

1/2 cup of Fresh strawberries

Instructions

1. In medium-sized sauce pan, combine your water, sugar and blueberries. Let this mixture come to a boil, then let it cool.

2. After letting the blueberry mixture cool, put it into a blender and let it puree until the mix is smooth. Once the mixture is totally smooth run it through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp. If you do not have a sieve you can find alternatives here, or find one on Amazon, here.

3. Fill up 2 champagne glasses 2/3 full with Proseco. Then top with the blueberry syrup you have made, filling it to the top.

4. Garnish with pineapple skewers

The Captain America

I thought there was no better way to honor Captain Rogers than keeping to the classic red, white, and blue. For The Captain America we will be doing red, white, and blue jello shots. These little guys may be small, but they pack a punch, and like the Captain himself they too can go all day. Don't let their small size fool you, like we see with Captain America it's about what's on the inside that counts.

Steve Rogers' Star Spangled Jello Shots

Ingredients

Two 1/4-ounce envelopes of unflavored gelatin

1/4 cup of sugar

3/4 cup of Blue Curacao liqueur

1 cup of Vodka

3/4 cup of grenadine

Whipped cream

Instructions

1. For your blue layer: Add 1/4 cup cold water in a bowl, then pour gelatin evenly over the top. Let the gelatin absorb for two minutes after adding it.

2. Then, add in 1/2 cup boiling water waiting until the gelatin has fully dissolved. Follow this by stirring in you sugar, once again allowing it to dissolve completely. Finally stir in the Blue Curacao and 1/2 cup of vodka.

3. Divide your mixture among 12 shot glass, then place them into the refrigerator for around 25 minutes, or until firm.

4. For your red layer: Follow Step 1 up until the gelatin has fully dissolved. Then, stir in 1/2 cup of vodka and grenadine.

5. Carefully, pour the red layer over your firm blue layer. Then set back into the refrigerator letting it set. This should take no less than an hour.

6. Finally, add a dollop of whipped cream as garnish before serving.

The Black Widow

For Natasha Romanoff's inspired drink we will be making a Red Russian. Like Natasha this drink packs a punch, but is so good you won't even know what hit you. Effortlessly classy, and easy to make, this drink is perfect for everyone's favorite superhero and spy. The striking red glass matches Natasha's fiery personality and signature red hair. The perfect drink to sip on while reminiscing about Budapest, if you will.

Natasha's Red Russian

Ingredients

2 oz of cherry liqueur

2 oz of Vodka

Ice

Blackberries for garnish

Instructions

1. In a short glass, pour cherry liqueur and vodka over ice and stir.

2. Garnish with a blackberry skewer, to achieve Black Widow's signature red and black look.

The Thor

For Thor, I went for the obvious choice, a yellow hammer slammer. These tasty cocktails pack a tasty punch, making this the perfect drink for casual get togethers or parties, that is if you are proven worthy. Like Thor, these bad boys are sweet but strong, they might even just take the God of Thunder for a run. I'm sure if Thor got his hands on one of these, he'd have already slammed the glass down to the table and asked for another.

The Hawkeye

For Clint Barton we have Bow and Arrow, this cocktail is not only fitting by name. This more serious cocktail is perfect for the often serious Hawkeye. With a bit more of a mature flavor this cocktail works perfectly with Hawkeye's personality.

2. Stir and pour into a cocktail glass that is filled with ice.

3. Finish but topping it with the sparkling water. Garnish with toothpick skewer of cherries. To be a bit more festive check out these awesome arrow toothpicks.

The Hulk

Last but most certainly not least we have hulk. How can I make a drink list and not include the oh so popular "Incredible Hulk" Cocktail. This drink lives up to it's name in every way. This neon green drink is the perfect drink to smash back in honor of Bruce Banner's not so relaxed alternate, the Hulk. This drink is sweet in nature and you may barely even realize there is any alcohol in it. True to it's name, this drink may seem like it is made for the docile Bruce Banner but before you know it you may just feel your inner Hulk come out with this drink.

The incredible Hulk

Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Hennessey

3 oz Hpnotiq

1/2 cup ice

Lime green food coloring

Instructions

1. Pour Hennessy and Hpnotiq in low ball glass, stir and add ice.

2. Add 2-4 drops of neon green food coloring

I hope you all enjoy these drink ideas, I sure had a great time working on them. Whether you want to take these to a 21+ Marvel themed dinner or party, or just show off your bartending skills during holidays these are sure to be a hit. Stay tuned for next week, we're back to our Marvel Cinematic adventure, starting back up with The Incredible Hulk.

Until next time,
